Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Calmer Canine?
Calmer Canine is a novel anxiety treatment system designed to help dogs with separation anxiety. Calmer Canine may also help dogs with other anxieties and fears, such as thunder phobia, noise sensitivity, travel anxiety, general anxiety and situational anxiety. Calmer Canine has been tested and proven to work alone without other treatments or training. However, Calmer Canine is safe to use with other solutions for anxiety, such as medications. It is based on technology cleared for human use by the FDA.
2. What is separation anxiety?
Separation anxiety is anxious or fear related behavior that can occur when you leave your dog alone either at home or in other locations. Signs of separation anxiety include, trying to escape from the home or area of confinement to reach you, vocalizations including whining, barking howling, panting and pacing, watching out the door or window until you return and house soiling only when you are not home.
3. How does Calmer Canine work?
Calmer Canine delivers low-level electromagnetic signals to the fear and anxiety center located in your dog’s brain. It works on a cellular level and gets to the core of the problem by reducing the factors that contribute to creating and sustaining anxiety in the brain. The technology returns the overactive anxious brain to a more balanced and calmer state. Unlike other solutions that must be continuously delivered to help, Calmer Canine is able to control anxiety between treatments and may have sustained effects that last long after a course of therapy has been completed.
4. Is it safe?
Yes. Calmer Canine is very safe and much safer than medications, which can have unwanted side effects. Calmer Canine therapy is based on FDA cleared technology that has been used since the 1970’s to treat health conditions in people. Technology similar to Calmer Canine, and developed by the same company, Assisi Animal Health, has been safely used to treat pain and inflammation in over 50,000 animals with virtually no reported side effects.
Calmer Canine should NOT be used in animals with electromagnetic devices (e.g., pacemakers) or used by pet owners if they have implanted devices, such as insulin pumps or pacemakers).
The device should NOT be used on or near a lot of metal (such as in a metal crate or on a stainless-steel table. Large metal objects may reduce the efficacy of Calmer Canine but will not affect the product’s safety.
5. Does the dog feel anything, does it hurt?
